Autumn is here!

Hello dear friends and fans! I am back again, with a  little blog here πŸ™‚

I just came back from a European tour of my own band with Greg Tardy and Tzumo Arpad and the band sounded great! I am super happy and excited about the new band and the new music. This was our first tour together, but we are going to be on the road next year again! I’ve also put together and played an amazing show with Gilad Hekselman and Felix Pastorious!

I’ve toured all over Europe this summer with the great Dhafer Youssef and we had a blast! Aaron Parks, Matt Brewer were on most of the shows, but Chris Jennings played some as well.
I took almost my whole month of September off for personal reasons, but at the end of September we recorded Lionel Loueke’s new album with Massimo Biolcati, which I am very excited about.

In october, I toured with Hungarian super star, Ferenc Snetberger and his trio featuring Anders Jormin and Phil Donkin as well on one show and afterwards with the Francisco Pais band. Its been super busy, but I am grateful for all the music I’ve been able to do. Stay in touch and stay warm in the fall! πŸ™‚

June and July

Hello fans! I am back again in NYC and just finished some recordings at the Big Orange Sheep studio as well as in Systems Two.

The last two months I’ve been busy touring with Dhafer Youssef all over Europe. Here is a photo from France at the Django Reinhardt Festival. We had a nice crowd as you can tell πŸ™‚
In mid June, I was teaching at the Wheeler Jazz Camp and we had a nice group of youngsters this year! It was great to be back in Providence. The camp has been going on for 8 years now and this year we got the Zildjian Cymbals Co. to sponsor us. Big thanks to them and everyone who came to the camp and a special big thanks to Francisco Pais who has been organizing it!

Coming up, I will be doing some more touring with Dhafer, Kavita Shah and Emilio Solla, but more about this later in August!
Happy summer to all and stay in connected!

Summer Tours and Teaching

At the end of May I started the summer tour with Dhafer Youssef’s new band, including Aaron Parks on Piano and Matt Brewer on Bass.  Here are some of the highlights of the tour. Looking forward to see some of you in one or many of these venues!
I am also doing masterclasses at the Wheeler Jazz Camp between June 19-23rd which is supported by the Zildjian Company! We are very happy and proud to work together on this!

Lionel Loueke Tour

I just finished a short tour with Lionel Loueke’s trio in Europe. We’ve been playing together as a trio with Massimo Biolcati on bass since 18 years. Here is a clip from the Bray Jazz Fest in Ireland. More to come this month. Stay tuned πŸ™‚

Drum Solo in 17/4

Last year, while I was on tour in Japan, we recorded some of the shows. Here I am playing a solo in 17/4 on Lionel Loueke’s tune, “Even Teens”.  I’ve been playing in Lionel’s trio along with Massimo Biolcati on bass for 18 years now and we still keep surprising each other. Taking risks is one of the most exciting thing in life and with this band we definitely do that a lot. Enjoy this video πŸ™‚

Happy New 2017!

I was closing the year with a great concert in my hometown with one of my best friend, piano player, Olah Tzumo. We played the new music that I’ve been writing for the last half year and I am very happy about the outcome.  We had a great show and with this memory I’d like to wish everyone a Very Happy New Year and lots of happiness for the upcoming years!

Great Week!

We had a great week in Budapest at the Ferenc Liszt Academy and Bartok Conservatory, where I was doing intensive masterclasses every day from 11am to 5pm for 4 days!  Great students, great vibe and lots of fun. Big thanks to Geroly Tamas, Hollo Aurel, Bacso Kristof, Olah Tzumo, Karmacsi Zita and my gear family, Zildjian cymbals, DW-drums, Remo drumheads and VicFirth Sticks!
